Giving takes time

Nearly 20 percent of the food we receive must be sorted and packaged before it’s delivered to people in need. Whether it’s one day a year or an hour a week, your hands-on contributions of time and energy help us get food where and when it’s needed most.

One person or a big group. Weekend or weekday. Morning or evening. We work with you to arrange a volunteer opportunity that suits you.

Ways to Give Time

FOOD RECLAMATION & REPACKAGING

Inspect and determine the safety of donated foods that were damaged at the grocery store and taken off the shelves. Or label, sort, and box food into usable sizes.

Our greatest need for volunteers is during the summer and early fall months. Volunteers are scheduled as needed during the following shifts:

  • Monday – Friday 9am-noon
  • Monday – Friday 1:15pm-4pm
  • Monday – Friday all day 9am-4pm (with break from noon-1pm)
  • Every Tuesday evenings 5:30pm-8pm
  • Every Wednesday 4pm-6pm or 5:30pm-8pm (alternates weekly)
  • Several Thursday late afternoons each month 4pm-6pm
  • Saturday morning twice a month (varies each month) 9am-noon

AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Our last after school program for the 2009-2010 school year will be Thursday, May 27.  If you are over 13 years old, you can join us for an after-school volunteer shift. We reserve the third and fourth Thursday from October through May for students.  Arrive by 3:30pm for snacks. Shift starts at 4:00pm and ends at 6:00pm. You can also come in over your spring break or the summer to get your school volunteer requirements fulfilled early.

SINGLES NIGHT

Join us the 2nd Thursday of each month for Singles’ Night from 5:30pm - 8:30pm. You must be 21 or older and not married to participate. Click on this link here to sign up for our next Singles Night.
